I think I have met my future co-author. Rejoice, my minions!

Special PSA: Clearing Misunderstandings and Realigning Myself
An accurate depiction of the Finnish scene right now.
I can’t believe I ended up writing about this, but oh well. Basically there’s an event called DesuGaala that will be held together with Desucon Frostbite next year. “Bad Nova, no more of this Finnish bullshit!” you say. I know, but bear with me just this once. Now, let’s take a look at the official announcement on the Gala as it was posted on Desucon’s blog by niidel who is in charge of organizing it. Unauthorized translation below:

Winter PSA – No Lectures For You, Here’s Why
I guess it’s about time to fart out another public service announcement. As Jinx! continues on its fifth year of operation, things are more or less business as usual. But there’s something I’d like to address in more detail to prevent further misunderstandings.

Desucon 2011 Sunday’s Report
Alright, now that the Finnish midsummer is at hand and I’m getting comfortably drunk, it’s time to take care of the latter half of my Desucon report.

Meanwhile, in the Green Room…
This photo is all sorts of awesome so I think it deserves its own post. Darkki wins the game.
Fingers, check ‘em.
Desucon 2011 Saturday’s Report
Ruining your waifus since 1917.
Nova’s back, back again. Nova’s back, but please keep your retardo friends out of this. Now, thanks to my university education having prepared me for my current position as a forest industry mid-boss in no way whatsoever, I’ve spent the last few weeks just trying to figure out all the ridiculously badly designed logistics control, personnel management and budgeting software. Also due to some near epic grade failing on part of my ISP I had to sit tight with no functional internet connection for over two weeks. Felt bad, man. And once I was finally free to roam the trolling super-highway once more, I realized that Desucon was right around the corner and I had done absolutely nothing at all about my own lecture. TL;DR: no blogan because lol.
But enough of the excuses as you’re supposedly here for the con report. Here goes nothing.

A Little Something You Should Know About My Waifu-Lecture
Desucon‘s program schedule was finally released, and the guys being into guerrilla marketing as they are it was promptly posted on Ylilauta’s /a/. This of course ignited an amusing shitstorm of complaints how the program was obviously there to make fun of NEETs, hikky’s, and other socially awkward consumers of Japanese entertainment. Since my waifu-lecture (incorrectly referred to as a panel by many) seems to play a central role here, allow me to make myself clear over the few issues some people seem to have having about it.

Spring PSA – The Shape of Things To Come 2011
The spring is at hand, as one can finally notice the sun actually warming up something and staying above the horizon for longer than three hours a day. Hooray! Now, I thought it would be appropriate to push out a little bit of PSA as the apathy of winter has recently been broken by a lot of things.

Things to Come – Gotou Yuuko Announced as Desucon 2011 Guest of Honor

Yep, I’m quite late on this since the announcement was initially posted on 23rd of January, but I’ll fart this out just in case someone within my reach wasn’t aware of it. Personally I was informed of this already in November ’10 but naturally I chose to remain silent until the official announcement was out. The specifics of Gotou’s performance have not been released yet but at the very least there will be an interview and an autograph session. Of course, unless the sky is coming down upon us I’ll be there to cover it. Reminds me, I should probably start getting busy with my own upcoming lecture.
Twelve Days of Anime – Posts 4 & 5: Desucon and Tracon 2010

If something of 2010 was deserving of being mentioned aside from my AFAX trip, that would be these two events that took place in Finland last summer. In fact the whole summer was quite epic and enjoyable, being the hottest summer in the last 200 years in Finland. Working in a factory with no air conditioning in temperatures close to (and sometimes even exceeding) +40C was an experience in itself – the job was more than just work, it was a fight for survival. It also made me realize what a blessing all the thousand lakes of Finland are, being the last few places where the scorching sun couldn’t fully reach.
