For the uncultured, Durarara!! and The Tatami Galaxy aired in the spring, and were pretty much the best shows of…well, actually I still hold them in higher regard than most of everything else 2010 had. Although Durarara!! was essentially Baccano! Lite/Japan Edition, it was nevertheless a show I greatly enjoyed watching aside from the dull first episode. As for The Tatami Galaxy, it was noitaminA just the way I like it – deviant, insightful, and daring to step beyond the limits of the usual anime target demographics. Both qualify as shows that remind me of why I watch anime and kept me going even through the weaksauce Summer 2010 season.
Besides Durarara!! had the reincarnation of 4chan, a guy who punches people so hard that their clothes fly off, a big black Russian, a smoking hot Hanazawa Kana girl, and Nakahara Mai doing a yandere role. Nuff said.
