Puella Magi Madoka Magica Ending Impressions – Okay Shinbo, You Win

Incubators would make a great match with Minecraft players.

And so SHAFT finally bothered farting out the last episodes, concluding 2011′s first God tier-show. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Madoka Magica stand as the most awesome piece of animated entertainment that came out this year, except for maybe MLP: Friendship is Magic. I apologize being late with this, but the timing wasn’t the best possible for me as EVE has keeping me unusually busy since last week.

Madoka Magica Drinking Game – Dagen Efter Drink Toll

With some Desucon folks we decided to have a synchronized watching experience with the drinking game, and here’s the toll. This is of course somewhat spoilertastic, so be advised. All in all it could have been more hardcore, but with the Extra Stage mode included it was more than a match if you were playing with some real alcohol. Personally I used a mix of ouzo and dark rum shots. Here’s the total:

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Drinking Game – Episode 9 Edition

As always, speculation, wild rumors, and complete nonsense surround the next episode Madoka Magica. Rightfully so, too – episode 8 pulled some more skeletons out of QB’s closet and shed some light on Homura’s curious origin. By courtesy of tsubasa I came across this bingo and liked the idea, but just drawing crosses on a grid when your guess hit its mark is rather boring. So why not spice things up a little with the creative powers of ethanol? The drinks used for the challenge are up to you, though personally I recommend ouzo. Just don’t blame me if you wake up in Timbuktu. Well then, good luck!

Halftime Thoughts on Winter 2011

I tried my best to pull individual analyses on all the non-Madoka shows around but after finishing with Fractale and attempting to move on to Yumekui Merry I realized that I was just forcing myself. To be honest, though this season is far better than the last couple ones I can hardly say most shows on my list deserve more than a couple paragraphs on a collective post. So here we go, everything that still stands on my watchlist. Quotes from my previous season summary about a month ago.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica – Thoughts So Far

Hitoraa-kun...

Since the 7th episode shed light on a few more interesting things, I thought it was high time pulling together something about how the show has been so far. As it should be obvious to everyone by now, Madoka Magica is easily the most discussed show around this season and will definitely go down as one of the most memorable anime experiences of 2011. Is all this glory unwarranted?

Madoka Magica Episode 6 – PROBLEM, MEGUCAS?

Problem, Meduka?

What would be a better way to celebrate the new domain than post about probably the most troll episode of Madoka Magica to the date? The show has improved rapidly from its somewhat unimpressive start and is turning out to be a huge middle finger directed at the Magical Girl genre. But more on that later, I intend to write a more proper post about the show soon.

First Impressions on Madoka Magica – Welcome to the World of Shinbo

This show has gotten some ridiculous amount of hype over the past season, being trumpeted as something revolutionary produced by the highest standards in the industry and of the ingenuity of SHAFT’s mad scientist director Shinbo Akiyuki. Whereas Fractale will make it or break it for Yamamoto “Yamakan” Yutaka, Madoka Magica is Shinbo’s attempt to kick some serious ass in the magical girl genre. After all, he hasn’t really done anything worth noting since Bakemonogatari in 2009. As such, these both shows are pretty much my highlights for this season. So, is Madoka Magica as awesome and groundbreaking as all the fanboy hordes keep saying?
