About Women, Sex, and Mass Murder – Damnit Henry Laasanen, Stop Spawning More Idiots

I should have known all the nasty shit down in Norway would spawn an eventual shitstorm about nerds becoming dangerous because they ain’t getting drunk an’ laid like any respectable citizen. It’s rather gruesome and saddening to see how this senseless massacre is being used as an argumentative hobby horse in one of the stupidest wannabe-psychology-major slap fights known to the internet. But oh well, watch me become a hypocrite once again because being the asshole I am, I saw it fit to stick my fork into this mess as well.

When I Was Young – Super Fun Birthday Post

I may be 26 but at least I’m not…wait, oh god.

Okay, so I wanted to post about turning 26. “But Nova” you say, “You’ve only bothered blogging about your birthday once before and it was barely one paragraph!” (actually twice but the first one published in 2007 is forever locked due to pathetic). So why should number 26 get any special treatment. Let me tell you, it’s the point at which one becomes aware of the following things…

Multiplayer PC Gaming – Where Did We Go Wrong?

Just a quick note while I’m waiting for my dead internet connection to magically fix itself, since the ISP seems to be content with throwing the responsibility down the subcontractor line. Guess I should be thankful that Madoka has been suspended as being on a slow and bandwidth-capped 3G connection tends to impose a strict limit on my anime-related activities. But here’s a quick ramble for the time being that popped into my mind recently over a tired argument about Crysis 2.

Brief Impressions on Crysis 2 MP Demo

The original Crysis and its expansion Warhead weren’t much more than FPS-of-the-month-wankery, but they were quite playable for the sceneries if nothing else. The story was corny as hell but nevertheless I was looking forward to its continuation. We’ve all seen some nice video footage of Crysis 2 featuring aliens roaming the ruins of NYC (or whatever that city was, don’t really recall), so I hoped to get a playable glimpse of the story in the demo.

20 Years Later…I Still Frustrated (Male PMS Ramble)

Guess I needed a way to vent this and I didn’t really want to cause any inconvenience to the poor bastards on IRC, so I’ll just do it here. I pay for this shit after all so please excuse the old man’s ramble. It’s just one thing we oldies like to do every now and then, so never mind me. Just keep on watching anime on another monitor and pretend to listen.

Nova’s Midsummer Post – And Now for Something Completely Different

There has been a lot of hate and rage on this blog recently, so let us kick back a bit and enjoy the summer. In Finland the Midsummer is a reasonably big festival and a national holiday celebrated with a lot of booze and BBQ’d animals. Since the weather was nice for a change and I felt like I need to push out some kind of Obligatory Midsummer Post, I decided to head out with my trusty ol’ bicycle and explore the town a bit.

Senior Nostalgia Syndrome – Evolution of the NerdStation

I suppose I’m getting old but what can you do? Graduation is right around the corner and I conveniently happened to find an archive DVD burned way back when that contained tons of old pictures. Realizing how quickly these 5 years of carefree student life have passed, I started putting together a picture illustrating the evolution of my workspace. I was somewhat reluctant to dedicate a post to it but hell, just bear with an old man’s ramble this one time.

So I’m in the US. Now what? (A Desperate Call to Fellow Bloggers)

Since I’m kind of on the clock here, I’ll keep this short. As you may know, I’m in the United States right now assisting my family with some real estate business in Florida, West Palm area. Next week I will take off for New York on wednesday for a couple days of personal vacation and then head back home to Finland. So, if you’re a fellow anime blogger and feel like meeting up, let me know. Here in FL my options are kind of limited as I’m mostly tied to my family but over in NY I have two days I’d rather spend meeting up with my colleagues. I don’t really like to spend a night out alone while I’m abroad.
So if you feel like a couple beers and a talk about annie-may and whatever else, do let me know as soon as possible. I have only limited access to the internet so your best bet is sending me an e-mail or commenting here (preferably the latter).

The Obligatory Single Awareness Day Post – Some Good Ol’ Pointless Ramble

It’s nice to see that Valentine’s still hasn’t been able to establish itself as an anime blogger festivity. I’ve never really gotten into the whole Valentine’s deal, being a sad nerd as I am and considering the fact that Catholic holidays in general aren’t that big out here in Finland (gratz to Gustav I of Sweden, good job back there brah). And what would Valentine’s mean anyway to those of us lurking moar and blasting out psychedelic trance like it was any other day? Besides I don’t even like chocolate. Haters gonna hate, hell yeah.
